Anti keylogger techniques Literature review Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Anti keylogger techniques - Literature review Example The recent increase in internet usage means that that the disadvantages of key-loggers outweigh its productive uses. The source amplifies how key-loggers are a serious threat to privacy and security, especially because they are barely discernible against anti-virus and spyware applications. Transient kernel control flow attacks are an innovative group of stealthy kernel-level malware that apply dynamic soft timers to attain considerable work while evading any continual alterations to kernel code or data (Wei, Payne, Giffin, and Pu, 2008). To defend against attacks such as stealthy key logger and a CPU cycle stealer, it is essential to examine the static analysis of the entire kernel. The source affirms that through this, one can identify and catalog all genuine STIR in a database. At run-time, a reference monitor in a reliable virtual machine allows the implementation of recognized and good soft timer interrupt requests and averts implementation of all unidentified STIRs. Schiffman and Kaplan (2014) present new SMM-based malware that usurps USB host controllers to interrupt USB events. System Management Mode (SMM) in x86 can manage physical hardware that the host operating system cannot notice virtually. It is a new class of malware with unbelievable power that helps to transform kernel data structures and trapping on I/O registers to execute PS/2 key loggers. In essence, it helps SMM root kits to manage USB devices straightforwardly without while denying the OS kernel from receiving USB-related hardware interrupts. Schiffman and Kaplan also discuss a proof-of-concept USB key logger, which are harder to identify than previous SMM-based key loggers that are activated by OS actions like port I/O. The source further suggests extra extensions to this technique and processes to avoid and moderate such attacks. Gupta, Sengupta, Bhattacharyya, and Chattrejee (2009) present a user verification

Psychosocial Risks at Work Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Psychosocial Risks at Work - Essay Example Whereas one's interpersonal relations influence the success of the strategies to minimize stress in the workplace, these strategies have a significant impact on approaches to reduce depression and related health-issues of the employees. In their study on psychosocial risks at work, Michael Ertel, et al. maintains that "psychosocial risks such as work-related stress, violence, bullying and harassment have become major concerns for occupational safety and health." (Ertel, et.al., 169) Therefore, it is essential to comprehend that there is a close cause-and-effect relation between occupational health and psychosocial factors. "Psychosocial factors refer to all organizational factors and interpersonal relationships in the workplace that may affect the health of the workers." (Vzina, et.al) As a result of the emerging need for reducing psychosocial risks, modern companies adopt several psychosocial risk intervention strategies to deal with psychosocial factors. It is indubitable that the stressful nature of a work situation, workload, interpersonal relationships, career prospects, and organizational climate highly affect an employee's health-related issues, including depression.

Story Titled Life Is Beautiful English Literature Essay

Story Titled Life Is Beautiful English Literature Essay Indeed life isnt easy but who said it was going to be easy? Its a road full of ups and downs and as we call it a road, we should know that bumps are bound to be there. For some its a little bumpier than others but then thats called life! However, its unfair to complain about things we dont have or have lost without appreciating all that we got in return but in the hassle of this busy life we all forget to thank the Almighty for whatever he did give us. What I at times find ironic is that were too busy to appreciate what we have, yet have ample time to complain about what we dont have! Every day I get up early complaining about why do I have early morning classes and why cant my classes just start at 12 everyday and end in the evening? And then on those days when my classes start in the afternoon and linger on till evening, I find myself whining how the teacher ruined my perfect evening. And its not only me, everyone I come across is complaining about one thing or the other. Jumping out of the bed, I look around and find hundreds of things that could have been better but cant seem to spot the best items! I open my wardrobe and cant seem to find something perfect even though its overloaded with clothes already! I spend my day cribbing about things, how the teacher took a surprise quiz, gave two assignments at a time which are due tomorrow, gave less marks to me on my project and more to the one who copied off the internet and it goes on! I keep venting out with my friends all day, at times complain to my mom who just keeps saying hmmm hmmm to every problem and then I complain (to myself) how shes not bothered to solve my issues without thinking how shes at least giving time to listen to what I have to say. Most parents today dont even do that! And maybe shes not intervening to give me more space and make me independent! While Im complaining about a hundred things around me, I come across all types of people from all ages and phases of life who arent content with what life has given them. Some whine about being fat, while others are wearing full sleeves and layers of clothing to hide themselves because they are anorexic. Some arent happy with their short hair, while others complain their long hair are such a mess and difficult to handle and then we find those who grumble about being short while the rest are shy of being tall! And amidst all this, we hear the clichà ©d statement, Oh I would be the happiest person alive if I had your hair, figure or height. And we all know nobody is the happiest person because its human nature not to be content with what you have, one keeps asking for more. The day ends and I tell myself how everything is unfair. I close my eyes hoping tomorrow will be better and its the same! Life will continue to be unfair until I change my approach! And then one day I change the way I look at things around me only to realize that everything is just so beautiful! I get up early morning and see the pleasant weather in Islamabad and the sun shining through the clouds, I open my wardrobe and thank Almighty for the extravagant wardrobe that I have and pull out a funky dress to wear. I spend my day appreciating the small blessings in life and realize how a positive approach makes life easier for me! I get done at whatever time and spend time with friends. With them I realize I have people to lean on to, to enjoy with, to laugh with, and to have fun with! Spending time with them relaxes me, I get to be myself without the fear of being judged or criticized. They make me realize how loved I am and how beautiful life is with their presence. After spending a good time with friends, I rush home! In between if my mom calls to find where I am, instead of cribbing about how shes always pestering, I feel proud of the fact that I have someone at home, who worries about me till, I get back home safely, who longs to spend time with me, whos ready to listen to my stories. This thought makes life even more beautiful! Then after giving a short update to my mom, I log on to the internet quickly to catch my best friend online whos sitting at the other corner of the world, waiting for me to come online everyday and give her an update, which she listens to with keen interest! And if Im busy and cant update her, shell make sure I do that! In case I start to complain how shes so far away from me, I stop right there and thank Almighty for the fact that at least shes with me if not by my side. Needless to say, a best friend is very important in life. You may have lots of close friends who you can hang out with or call at any hour of the day, but if you dont have that one best friend who feels the same about you, you will be alone at one point or the other! The reason why they call this relationship, best friend forever is because even when you dont know where youre going, you know theres someone with you and youre not heading alone! They say, love may fade with the season but some friendships are year round. Try to find such friendships that dont leave you even when your shadow disappears. All in all, in todays busy life we are too caught up with things to enjoy the simple pleasures life has to offer, which we fail to notice. Take out time to enjoy the rain and sip a cup of coffee while watching the rain pour down. Watch a small child play, listen to the songs that take you back to the time you first heard them and you will realize what you have been missing on in the hassle of this busy life. Look at the beauty of relationships like friendship and love and stop taking them for granted to find out we are left with a very few to cherish. Weve started living in a world where fame, glamour and money means everything and the child inside us is too scared to step out of this world! In times like these you need to step outside and clear your mind and open your heart and think about all what you have! Remind yourself of who you are and where you want to be? What do you really want to have materialistic things or friendship and love which will last a lifetime? Sometimes you will really have to put an effort to find yourself, but you will eventually! Stop wasting life complaining and whining about whats fair and whats unfair and what went wrong and what you dont have! Life is too short to spend it like that. Just look at what went right and whats good around you. Appreciate the nice things around you and realize everyones life has ups and downs and bumps, but its still beautiful at the end of the day! Make friends who are true at heart and accept you the way you are, who dont judge you and who you can be completely at home with. In a life where you cant choose your family, you can definitely choose your friends so choose them wisely and then you will realize life isnt that bad at the end of the day. And while you are at it, capture all the beautiful moments in your life in a picture so that you can cherish them forever. Cameras are one of the best inventions, they help us capture moments in the form of pictures that tell us more about ourselves than we know, they take us back to the long journey we have taken, the loved ones we have around and those we have lost on the way! If you can try to bring those loved ones youve lost, back in your life and if nature came between you and them then cherish what you have for now. Life is incomplete without family! No matter how successful you become, how many friends you make, or where you go in life the importance of family remains the same as it was when you were a baby. And as gossip girl says, when it comes to family, were all still children at heart no matter how old we get we always need a place to call home because without the people you love most you cant help but feel all alone in the world!

Immigration in America Today :: Illegal Immigration, Illegal Immigrants

Immigration in America Today Every year, hundreds of thousands of immigrants, legal and illegal, from around the world, come to the United States. These immigrants come because they want a chance at a better life; others are refugees, escaping persecution and civil wars in their home country. Many people believe the United States is the best place to go. There is more freedom, protection, and benefits, which seems like a good deal to immigrants. But the large number of immigration is affecting the current citizens of the United States. Taxpayers are forced to pay for the welfare and schooling for many of these immigrants, some who are illegal aliens. Some citizens believe that immigration can be hazardous to the environment. Others blame crime, poverty, and overpopulation on immigration. About sixty-eight million immigrants have been added to the United States since 1970, and it is estimated that 130 million people will be added over the next fifty years. The government has tried somewhat to restrict im migration but the laws are still too lenient. Nearly every other advanced country in the world is moving quickly towards stabilized population or has already achieved it. The United States is moving towards it very slowly. This country would have to reduce immigration down to 255,000 a year to do this (Beck 1). If nothing is done to stabilize the immigration to this country, what will become of population in the next decade? The population will continue to grow even faster - not due to births, but to massive immigration to this country. Immigration can become a serious problem to this country if the government does not produce stricter laws. The government must restrict immigration laws because of overpopulation of the United States. Immigration has been affecting America?s population for over two hundred years now. Back in the 1800?s, immigration was encouraged so that the New World could become prosperous. Today, some citizens have been worrying about how many more immigrants the United States can take in, while others do not really care because employers would rather pay lower wages to new immigrants or immigration does not seem to be affecting them in any way. It is impossible to stop all immigrants from coming to the United States, but the government can restrict the immigration laws to a certain extent (Kalla 2).

Hamlet a Domestic Play or a Commentary on Power Politics Essay

In the early 1600s, the time that â€Å"Hamlet† was written, the themes of power politics related to the domestic would have been far more relevant to the audience as at this time, these two themes intertwined particularly within the monarchy which is hereditary meaning that the power comes from family. Again this link is demonstrated by James I’s 1603 speech to Parliament where he stated that he was â€Å"the Husband and the whole Isle [his] lawful wife† showing the domestic view of many political relations and also the idea of James I as a husband ruling over his country which was his wife. This also brings in another theme of power plays in Hamlet being demonstrated by patriarchal dominance, such as the power Polonius has over Ophelia. We also see the power of men on their families as a whole and how characters us their family links and loyalties to gain power. Throughout â€Å"Hamlet† we see a number of sons avenging their fathers’ deaths, including old and young Fortinbras, Laertes and Polonius and old and young Hamlet. These draw attention to the domestic tragedy element of â€Å"Hamlet† and as to whether Hamlet seeks revenge for his father’s death due to his love for his father or because of his duty to him and the power Old Hamlet’s ghost has over Hamlet. When we see Hamlet speaking to the Ghost of Old Hamlet, it seems to be a close relationship with Old Hamlet expressing concerns for his son, stating â€Å"taint not the mind† suggesting that Hamlet should not allow the act of revenge to â€Å"taint† his morality. This is a bizarre ask from Old Hamlet as murder will undoubtedly affect Hamlet’s sense of morality. However, within their conversation, Hamlet’s obligation to avenge his father is also made apparent by the ghost himself who tells Hamlet that after hearing what he has to say, Hamlet will be â€Å"bound† to revenge. The word â€Å"bound† shows how Hamlet’s father expects Hamlet to avenge him and believes this is what he should do, showing Old Hamlet’s power over his son as this is what he eventually does. We also see Old Hamlet’s dominance in a number of other ways including the fact that he dominates the conversation and his physical dominance as he has been described as a â€Å"valiant† man who â€Å"smote† his rivals, which contrasts to what we see of Hamlet, who is a scholar relying more upon his brain than his ability to fight. This dominance is finally shown when Hamlet is warned not to go with the ghost but ignores his friends’ advice and states that he â€Å"will follow it†. We also see the power of the father in the relationship between Polonius and his two childrea: Laertes and Ophelia. We see Polonius telling his children how to behave and to â€Å"give thy thoughts no tongue†, and yet, ironically, Polonius appears to have a compulsive need throughout the play, giving out a large amount of nonsensical advice and opinions. To add to this irony, Polonius tells them â€Å"to thine own self be true†, as all he does is advise and tell people how to behave, this works to somewhat ridicule Polonius’ skills as an advisor. However, Ophelia must still listen to him as in the 17th century, the daughter was effectively the property of the father until she was married and thus must accept what her father said, as seen when Ophelia says, â€Å"I shall obey, my lord†. This obedience opens up Ophelia to be used as a political pawn by Polonius in his own efforts to gain favour and thus power with the King. This manipulation of Ophelia by Polonius suggests that Shakespeare’s play is a commentary of power politics as it infers much about the Renaissance court and its workings, criticising it. Furthermore, we see the male dominance that Laertes has over his sister, Ophelia, however, unlike Polonius, he does not seem to use this to his advantage or to gain power. He warns Ophelia away from Hamlet as â€Å"on his choice depends the safety and health of this whole state†. At this time, powerful families commonly used marriage as a means of forging tactical, political or social allegiences, once again linking the personal to the political. However, while Laertes has power over Ophelia, it doesn’t appear to be for his own advantage as it is the case with Polonius, thus suggesting that his concerns are genuine and out of love for his sister. As a result, it strengthens the interpretation of Hamlet as a domestic tragedy. To conclude, I believe that in many of the relationships in â€Å"Hamlet†, there is a mix of power politics and domesticity with characters using their families as a means of gaining power or using their power to get what they want. All of these contribute to making the line between power plays and domestic relationships more unclear.

Electronic Human Resource Management

Electronic Human Resource Management can be defined as â€Å"The processing and transmission of digitalized HR information, especially using computer networking and the Internet† (pg. 52) basically, because technology has such a hold over most of the world, e-HRM is considered beneficial. It is faster, sometimes easier, and can be more proficient than the ‘over worked and under paid’ employee. Just because almost everything is now electronic doesn’t mean that there isn’t a need for humans any more. Someone has to sit behind that desk and enter in all of the electronic information, look through the records and make sure all of the social security numbers are correct, and be there for technical support when the system is down or someone is having a user error. Many businesses’ today rely solely on e-HRM like the Armed Forces. Here at Mountain Home Air Force Base we have such system called The Portal. Inside this Portal, everything about anything you have ever done or would want to know can be found in here. Many HRM practices are done through this portal for all military and DoD civilians. My work as a Personal Property counselor survives and is only possible with the use of e-mail. Because we work with everyone, including the deployed members currently serving overseas, what we do is damn near impossible without the use of our email. We cannot inform members of required documentation needed, deadlines that must be met, and forwarding up information to our headquarters, which is located in Colorado Springs, CO. My office at MHAFB uses the HRM practice of analysis and design of work faithfully on a daily, even weekend basis. Recruiting: With our Portal, we have an Intranet based link called AMS, Assignment Management System. Through here, you can look at every single job opening on every Air Force Base in every country. When I log onto this AMS site, I can look at every job opening and the requirements for that job based on my job title. I can also choose to apply for this job through this system. Another practice of HRM is Training. In the Portal, everyone has an account in ADLS, Advanced Distant Learning System. In ADLS you may take any number of classes, free of charge to further your knowledge of the Air Force and the programs it has to offer. Selection includes testing. Also found in ADLS are countless CBT’s, Computer Based Training. Everyone must complete specified CBT’s from Homosexual training to Chemical Warfare in a deployed location. At the end of every CBT, a certificate will be printed out with proof of completion and how well you did, giving your UDM (Unit Deployment Manager) an idea of who she’s working with. The last practice of HRM is compensation and benefits. The portal has a link you can click in that will lead you to your myPay account. Through your myPay account you can see where every last penny came from, your current and past LES (Leave & Earning Statement), even your retirement plan that you have set up with the Air Force. The Air Force is just one example of how the majority of businesses are now electronic. Sooner or later we will live in a ‘Paperless work force† and everyone will be using e-HRM in one way or another. RESOURCES Fundamentals of Human Resource  Management.
